-is it stealing?
-is it stealing when it’s done poorly?
-can it be exciting for some skater kid who’s into japanese fashion watch his worlds collide and adore this?
-can it be depressing for a comme fan to think about a bunch of skater kids donning those eyeballs without knowing their origin?
-why does it matter?
The imagery that a majority of skate companies use oftentimes is obviously stolen, something I love and hate. Sometimes it’s blatant theft, sometimes it’s a cultural head-nod, or name drop. So is a statement being made?
Are any statements being made when everyone is making money along the line?
Original art exists somewhere in the line. But can anything be original in this internetz/Tumblr circle jerk of an aesthetic world?
